Adler presser bar on a juki Lu 1508 ?

Hi. I hope someone can help me with a query. 

I bought a juki Lu 1508 a few months ago. But I am only now getting around to using it. I ordered a welting foot online and when it arrived I discovered that it did not fit. At first I thought either I had ordered the wrong part of the supplier had sent the wrong part. I was wrong. On closer inspection of other 1508 machines online, I noticed that they all had a different fitting to mine. Looking at other walking foot machines made by other manufacturers, I noticed that mine was the same as the Adler machines. Is it a common practice for people to modify machines this way ?.
