Satin Sheen then Fiebings conditioner?

Ok...I'm not exactly new to leather work. I've made dog collars, belts, wallets, moccasins, a deerskin dress, leggings, bags, knife sheaths and more. I've done a lot of tooling too.

I just saw a video where this guy made leather flip flops. He applied satin sheen and then applied leather conditioner. I have never liked the satin sheen myself. I just don't see the point of the stuff. I prefer buffing or burnishing to that garbage. Any way, my question is doesn't putting a finish like satin sheen inhibit the application of a conditioner?

I haven't used "satin sheen" in particular, but I have the same concern about products I have used such as Saddle Lac for example. Sure it looks great now and probably protects the leather, but how can you apply conditioner years down the line? Perhaps if you can still get to the unfinished side of the piece you can condition it that way. I think you are correct though that conditioner will not penetrate through such a finish.
