wulfjh Report post Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) I recently purchased this machine and I’m having issues. I want to use the machine to sew chaps, chinks, wallets belts etc. I’ve read in other threads that the best need for leather would be 135-16 leather point. When I search, I find multiple sizes. There are sizes from 18 to 24. Does anyone know what size I should buy? Are “wedge point leather needles” what I should be looking for? Ive read that #138 is the best size thread for this machine, but I was under the impression from research that it could handle #207. Am I limited to #138? lastly, sometimes, when sewing the thread gets caught around the bobbin holder. When I lift the foot and pull the material it is caught and has basically three pieces of thread coming from the bottom. Any ideas? sorry, but I’m new to sewing and really don’t have a clue what I’m doing. Thanks in advance for your help. JJN Report post Posted June 30, 2020 (edited) Use a needle size that is appropriate for the thread you are using. Here is a link to a chart that will help you get the correct combination of needle size and thread size. https://www.tolindsewmach.com/thread-chart.html Use the pdf file below to select a leather point that gives the look you want. I suggest you start out with 138 thread. Running 207 thread may work on the top thread with 138 in the bobbin but I would get the machine dialed in before you experiment with that. The trouble you are having with removing your work is that the thread needs to be past the bottom of the hook before you can pull the thread up. Make sure the take up arm is at its highest position. Then raise the foot and pull your work out with ease. gb014.pdf Edited June 30, 2020 by JJN
