Thanks to the Lockdown I've been saving money. I filled the petrol tank in March and it's still only 3/4 full as the only places I drive to are a couple of local supermarkets. Events, museums, and other venues are cancelled and closed. Shops and pubs have re-opened but it's a fairly joyless experience, wandering around with your face mask on or sitting inside your plastic cubicle nursing a pint, which is not what pubs & bars are about, so I've only been once, and won't go again till we're back to something like normality.

Alright, that's the background, now for the important bit

I have a set of Tandy Craftool Pro edge bevellers, the ones with the black rubber handles, that I got when the Manchester store had them on offer. They do the job, but I've never been too happy with them, so I was thinking of getting something better. These would probably be Palosanto, just the middle sizes to start with, #1 & #2, then others if I need them.

I would be importing them from Korea; does anyone know how deliveries are at the moment, please? Or any other comments

I recently received packages in Canada from two different Korean suppliers. The shipping time in both cases was about two weeks using a delivery service. The difference was the time it took the suppliers to ship the orders. One outfit had it out the door in a couple of days.  The other took a more leisurely approach to putting the order together so I'd say a lot of it is  down to how efficient/well stocked the supplier is.

As a side note, I've been waiting over a month for some sewing machine needles from the US. Some kind of "International Arrival Scan" excuse. I don't understand why a company like DHL, FedEx or Purolater can move  something to me in 8 or 9 days while the postal system takes weeks to accomplish the same thing.

I don't know if you have the same option in England but if you can, take advantage of the option to pay the duties and taxes online. It really makes the delivery process a lot easier.

Regards,

Arturo

Thanks for your reply

After watching Nigel Armitage's review, and others, I've just ordered two Palosanto edge bevelers, size 1 & size 2 as these seem to be the most used; I can always order more if I wish to

I could have ordered directly from www.palosantofactory.com but decided to order via Etsy UK as I thought this would be a more established route

Estimated delivery time is about 4 weeks; we shall see

We shall also see what the total cost is after shipping, taxes, and import duties. I expect HMRC (Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs) will be the same as in any other country - they will never miss a chance to get money off you

I'll report the outcome in due course
