Members aru Posted August 30, 2020 Members Report Posted August 30, 2020 I saw these on a ebay and some cobbling videos, but I never see people use them on small projects. So what exactly are these specifically for? are they better than burnishing? do you use these after burnishing? Ive done most of my beginner practice on thin soft chrome tanned leather, and I have a really hard time burnishing the edges and making them nice, is this just a characteristic of really soft chrome tan? Thanks! Quote
Members SabaPashaNZ Posted August 30, 2020 Members Report Posted August 30, 2020 These are mainly used to create almost a beveled edge rather than burnish it (which is a different process to burnishing). Burnishing basically seals the edges, and you tend to see best results on veg tan leather. Quote
Members Ailbhean Posted September 5, 2020 Members Report Posted September 5, 2020 Chrome tanned leather can’t really be burnished. This is why you are having such a hard time with it. I would go with edge painting instead. Quote
