Members dimgshoe Posted August 30, 2020 Members Report Posted August 30, 2020 Hi everyone, I'm looking to get a machine and move away from totally hand stitching my shoes. There isnt much available for me where im at, but this opportunity presented itself: it is a Pfaff 595-W3-317/2D I'm wondering if anyone could share some insight on this machine/similar machines, pitfalls and issues, and if it would be good for closing uppers. its a walking foot, not a roller (which I've heard are a little easier in upper closing), so im also wondering if its feasible to change these for a roller easily? thanks again Quote
Moderator Wizcrafts Posted August 31, 2020 Moderator Report Posted August 31, 2020 This machine is a post bed compound feed walking foot machine. It doesn't lend itself to becoming a roller foot machine. If you believe you will be better served by a roller foot machine, try negotiating a trade. I primarily use it to sew patches onto hats and biker vests. It feeds much better than my top feed only patcher and has a bigger bobbin. If you "need" a post machine a walking foot is a positive a feed as you can get.
