I was given an old 153w102 singer machine last year it has set in my barn covered but unused, had set on someone's porch for 3or 4 years, I know it did work but I have not plugged it in, it needs new cord and cleaned and oiled, would liked to do this before I plug it in, it may not even work anymore because I don't know how to go about cleaning is, what would I use thanks

First I´d oil it as shown in the 153w manual and crank it by hand to figure if something is wrong. If it turns over w/o problems thread the machine as shown in the manual and crank it by hand and see if it sews. This way you know it is in good order before you clean it and probably take apart something.
