Hello From Kansas City

Recommended Posts

Hello all. I am new to leather working. Started by wanting to make a new shield for my helmet at the Fire Department. I have finished my first one that was more of a trial and error attempt. I have a lot of questions now and look forward to browsing the site.

Hi, I live south of KC about an hour. If I can be of any help just let me know. There is a local Guild that meets at the Tandy store in Independence but I don't belong as I cannot attend the meetings because of shift work. They could be some help also. But contact me if I can help.

I am in the same boat with the shift work I do.

Good to know someone somewhat local I can get in touch with for help. I have several other things I plan to eventually make once I find where all my time goes and save some for leather working.

Have you ever dealt with The Leathersmith Supply Co. in Overland Park? A friend told me about them today but I have not been by there yet.

Anyways, thanks for the welcomes!

If that thumbnail attachment is a pic of your first attempt at leatherwork....you're way ahead of the curve. That's a really, really good looking piece. Kudos, bro.

Thanks gringo. That is my first completed leather project. I started over once because I learned my limitations in a couple of areas on the first try.

I have started my next one but recently ran my thumb through the table saw so it will be awhile before I can get back to leather working. According to my 6 year old "that was a dumb thing to do!"
