Juki 1541 And The Juki 1541S ?

Recommended Posts

Ok, I found the info on the Juki web site, but still not sure what it is (means).

Says the 1541S (with safety mechanism), what is a safety mechanism and why do you need it?

Thanks

Page 22 of the Juki 1541 Service Manual, attached below, states:

"The safety clutch functions when an excessive load is applied to the hook driving shaft or the like during sewing. When the safety clutch functions, the hook will not rotate even if turning the handwheel, and the hook driving shaft sprocket wheel only will run idle since the power is not transmitted to the hook driving shaft."
Member Gregg at Keysew has a link to the owner's manual but that does not seem to cover the safety clutch.

The clutch kicks out when the hook gets jammed. It can get thread jammed by a couple of reasons threading the machine wrong, not holding your thread the first 3 stitches when you start. If you have the option of buying a machine with or w/o a clutch always get the one with it.Reason being if you jam the one w/o a clutch you risk knocking it out of time(the hook twists on the shaft) THEN you need to take it somewhere & get it retimed or learn to adjust it your self.
