Some Of My Work

Recommended Posts

Hi All

Fairly new to the forum and my first post. Been working with leather for a number of years now but until fairly recently only making basic stuff for the punk and goth market. But 7 or 8 months ago I started learning how to carve and stamp etc and well as other other things, even leather covered bottles.

I'm into fantasy myself and don't wear any of the spiked stuff I make so learning about proper leather work I find I can do thing I find more interesting. This is a few of my earlier works from last year.

The flame wristband was my first attempt at getting the dye job to look like flames.

The Skull arm bracer was my first attempt at a largish item, though basic I was still learning.

The brown basket weave bracers was first got at a major basket weave piece, don't look to closely you see all the mistakes on keeping it all lined up, I feel a bit jealous of what some people are doing with the basket weave stamp. The colour is meant to be uneven, wanted it to look a bit used, not one solid brown item.

The last piece was my first go using a Tandy craft aid, its was meant to have carved horns but I replaced them with metal claw spikes to give it a better effect.

So I have improved a bit in my carving since then, but still learning. Let me know what you think!!

Looking very good!! Carving will come more and more with every project, just keep practicing. Tooling is at it's best when the leather is not too mosit nor to dry, that is also something that you'll develop a sense for with time.

Keep it up, nice designs!!

Tom
