Fading One Color Into Another...

Recommended Posts

Hey yall,

I'm sure this has been posted before, but I dont know what words to use in the search bar...

I want to dye my new seat from a 'light' brown to black, but with a fading effect, making it appear the center used to be black but has worn off...

Also, less important but still...is there a way to add a green 'tint' to the black, like adding green to the clearcoat then spraying of black base...

Thanks yall, love this place!

Airbrush !

First dye the whole thing the lightest color you will be using, . . . come back and feather in the fades you want.

Suggestion, . . . go practice on some cardboard or something else first, . . . get your technique down. Harbor freight has airbrushes for less than $30, . . . and they'll work for what you are doing.

And yes, . . . if you want a hint of green, . . . you can add that to the clearcoat, . . . but again, . . . better practice it so you know what you are getting.

May God bless,

Dwight

I tend to agree with Dwight, Airbrush will be the way to go, and again harbior freight has the way to go, in obtaining an airbrush kit.

also as suggested Practice, Practice, Practice !

That too, will be the way to go to get you there ! Good luck ----------------- Wild Bill46

Sailor John

Just today, Benlilly had a project she completed in the show off section under the heading

"Seat ready to dye, ? "

I would would read that post beginning to end. and check out the picture of the shovelhead with dream seat in place!

Maybe hers might inspire yours ? Good luck to you ! --------------------------------------------- Wild Bill46

I put this in my Google Chrome,..... youtube: airbrush dying leather

I got a full page of videos. Didn't watch them, . . . but you'll probably find something there to help.

May God bless,

Dwight
