2 Tooled Pieces

Recommended Posts

I typically make bags and things, and never really got into tooling. I ended up inheriting a bunch of tools from a customer and found myself with a bunch of stamps and a swivel knife. Been messing around for a bit, here are my first two pieces that are actually useful. The first is a cardholder made as a gift for a friend, the second is a checkbook cover for myself. This is extremely addictive...

Heres the checkbook cover, needs a coat of oil...

Would love some feedback! I came up with all the patterns myself, and I understand things are a little messy by traditional standards..

its a start. its good to no that you are not afraid to try new stuff.

I highly recomend that you contact the local tandy leather store and get some toolling classes.

another way to get classes is go to hidecrafter's website and order some videos on toolling.

Good job for your first two pieces... I recommend going to Tandy. LEAther F..ctory.com and watching the instructional videos when you are just starting out they are very useful...

Hope this helps,

Glad you are not afraid to post your first pieces. You can buy some great books on tooling at Tandy Leather Factory. Anything by Al Stoleman is excellent. The more you tool the better you get.
