Jaquard Lumiere Fabric Paints?

Hey there!

I've been chatting with a few leather mask-makers on the deviantart site, and one of them recommended Jaquard Lumiere fabric paints for use on leather. Has anyone else here used them before I got investing in new paints? I tend to use more washes, only black and white get used straight by me, usually, if that helps.

Yep, Jacquard paints are awesome. Both the Lumiere and NeoOpaque work on leather.

Here's my wife's tank bib (when it was in process) with NeoOpaque Bright Red for the dragon. The rest is Fiebing black spirit dye.

It's been on her bike for over a year with no noticeable loss of color. Can be brushed on right out of the bottle, it semi-self leveling and can be diluted with water for airbrush use.

It recommends setting with heat so I use a hairdryer to set the color between coats.

Almost any acrylic can be used on leather... a good trick for using as a wash I find is to use alcohol to thin it...it dries fast and allows you to layer faster... I like Golden paints as well!

See, right now, I'm using EcoFlo from Tandy... while they're okay they definitely are not the greatest. I'd love to replace them, just want to pick a good brand or what have you

The Lumiere work better for washes and the NeoOpaque seem to be better for solid, bright colors. Any paint can be washed, it's just a matter of thinning to the right consistency.

You can even get a bit creative and do gouache or egg tempura techniques on leather for different results.

Yep, i use lumiere through my airbrush...they have such great colors. My avatar mask is just one example.

I don't have an airbrush.. I do it all by hand ~__~.

Update!

I couldn't locate the Jaquard paints, but I DID find some Golden paints.

I couldn't afford a ton, so I went for some iridescents... I cannot wait to play with them! Squee! <3
