Correct Needle.

Hi,Iam having trouble with my consew 206 R.Its breaking top thread 138.Iam not sure if the needle is turned the right way..What I want is to sew with a 135 17 or a 135/16 for leather.I have 138 in the top and 69 in the bottom.Can you tell me if any of these needles will not work in my machine?Thanks,navy

try the 16 or 17 needle with 69 size thread on top and see if it willl sew that.

next get a 18 or 20 size needle. hope this will help you.

my consew 225 will sew the 138 size thread well with the larger needle.

ps.... look at the needle the side with the long grove is to the left side.

Most threads will require a size 22 needle to sew#138

Will the needle read 135/22?Iam confused at where the number is written.Thanks,navy

135/17 is the system,

22/140 or 21/130 are the size you want. singer#/nm#.

I have sewn with a #19 with 138/138 and got by with it, however starting out you are going to want to use a #21.

Most threads will require a size 22 needle to sew#138
