I want to get high end tools, but I want to buy wisely.

Recommended Posts

I am just starting my own side business. I am looking for some advice on where to get my leather stamping tools, I want to get high end tools, but I want to buy wisely.

I also want to get dies to cut out my pieces.

Need to find a supplier for exoctic leathers.

I pretty much need alot of advice from those of you that would like to share their advice and experience.

are you building saddles??

Tools ...Jeremiah watt ------ jw

To utilize dies you will need to make quantities of the the same patterned product. most custom shops cut by hand.

For stamping tools, Barry King has the best deal around by far. Very good quality stainless steel and the price is very good also.

There are several die makers around that could help. Texas Custom that is already memtioned. Also Weaver Leather is now making cutting dies.

Exocitic leather I use VanAmburg Leathers 310-453-5766 vanamburgleathers@verizon.net He has a very good selection of Shark, Stingray, snake and others.

I thought there was a thread here on this subject, maybe it was ILCG, but for the money JW(ranch2area.com) and BK are a good middle of the road high quality.

Just a suggestion, you can break the bank fast just buying up tools and find later that you settle into only a few of what you baught so it is a good idea to think through what type of tooling you are doing and get what you need for that then work out from there.

When I started out I frustrted myself thinking I needed a box load of tools, then my mentor showed me a thing or two and since I have rarely use more than a handful. Good luck G.Hackett
