Looking For Apprentices For 19Th Century Boot And Shoe Making

Recommended Posts

Please see my introduction 'greetings from the 19th century'. I am currently living in Hamilton, Ontario just across the border from Niagara Falls NY and my shop is here. I am seeking a hard core Confederate reenactor/historian/old west enthusiast to apprentice and learn CW to 1890's boot making. This will be a traditional 19th century apprenticeship. Applicant would also be required to travel to reenactments to be a sutler. Also looking for a female stitching/sewing apprentice to make early to late females shoes and bootee's.

Cheers,

JesseLee

Hi!

I'm new to the forum, and leather working in general, but am hoping to work towards saddlebag making and working with thick leathers - so shoe making experience would be wonderful. I am currently looking to apprentice with anyone who will take me and i cant believe you live in HAMILTON! I'm in Burlington, on 20 min away! I am also a classical actor and history student and have a great appreciation for historical craftsmanship. Please let me know if you are still looking for a female apprentice. My boyfriend is also looking for a similar apprenticeship - he's very interested in historical film and reenactments.

Hope to hear from you soon!

Katherine

Hi, I live in Buffalo, NY and I am looking for a shoe/boot making apprenticeship. I'm not a reenactor or enthusiast but I am into antiques and boots. I have some sewing experience. I can be reached at pancait@yahoo.com. Thanks.

Hello there,

I came across your post in the forums and I am interested in learning how to make 19th century footwear. I am a member of an 1812 re-enactment group based in London, On. ( 1st regiment of foot, The Royals Scots) and I frequent several events every year. Please contact me via email at jeff_chesley@rogers.com and we can dicuss this further

Regards,

Jeff

I wish I lived closer. I made both of these costumes last year fully with the exception of the shoes, socks, and hubby's hat.
