Market Bag (1)

I made this market bag as a wedding gift for a gal from Australia. This flower is called Kangaroo's Paw. The body of this bag is made from 5-6 oz. strap leather. Interior is lined with Krypton Upholstery Fabric (which is pretty indestructible) in a leaf print.

Very cool!! Making a Market Bag is on my to-do list, and you have inspired me to get started on it! I like your buckstitching, especially around the shoulder strap. Do you have any words of wisdom from your construction that you can pass on??

I'm glad I could inspire you, as I'm constantly inspired when I look around on this site. Lots of nice work here! As for "words of wisdom", I'm not sure. Keep a sharp swivel knife, cut carefully. Utilize your modeling tools after carving to clean up your work.

Apply colors a little bit at a time so as not to overdo it.

I've had pretty good results preparing my lace using Lexol, letting it soak in then coating with Aussie Leather Conditioner, wiping off the excess, a little goes a long way. It seems to make it nice and supple. Above all, Have Fun!
