Finally finished another belt. Not my finest stitching: managed to pick up the wrong stitching chisel when I started, resulting in some crowded stitching. But, I think it still came out ok in the end.

Used black mission pig liner, 5 oz veg tan, Ecru 532 Campbell's Satin Laid Linen thread.

This was an older belt I had made, and I am quite certain it was 332 thread, not 532 thread. At any rate, I have been using 7SPI pricking irons to mark the leather, and a very old German awl blade to make the holes for this particular thread size, since it is a larger blade than my Blanchard. I started about a year ago, with about a 6 month absence so I feel I have a long way to go with improving my stitching. Thank you for the compliment, keeps me motivated to keep learning, practicing!

I think the difference between yours and my stitching is I use a larger thread and mine looks crowded. I use .030 or .035, your .6mm is .023. That alone will make a difference.

Thanks for the pictures, they helped me more than anything.

Yes, the thread size versus hole size makes a huge difference. In this case, the 332 thread is about 0.7mm, or 0.028". I still used a larger awl on this to get the look. Glad the photos are useful. There is a section that has different thread sizes in different pricking iron marks for reference. Do you have pics of your work anywhere?
