It does really well with bridle or vegtan on the thinner weights and will handle as much upholstery leather as ya can fit under the foot. The vegtan and similar I stick to less than a quarter inch generally since Ive got a CB4500 for the thick stuff. The 111 does very well for things like motorcycle seats, wallets, pocket items, field note covers, thinner belts.... things of that nature. The CB4500 gets things like gun belts and holsters, knife sheaths and anything needing 207 and larger thread. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Report reply Hoffman Posted January 7, 2017 We have two at my family's home. I'm curious to see if they could be modified to work thicker leathers. I really don't know anything about sewing leather yet but know I will eventually be doing bigger projects and hand sewing will be a timely option. Quote Share this comment Link to comment
Report reply MADMAX22 Posted January 7, 2017 You would be better off gettiing a thick leather stitcher. The 111s are great machines but have there limits. You could do thicker vegtan with them but I am not sure how long they would hold up considering they werent really made to do that. They will stitch upholster, canvas, lighter vegtan all day long though. This type machine has its place for sure just not for doing things like harness's and saddles and what not.
