Heartbreaking! Have you found a method for repairing it... there must be a way?

Probibly a daft idea, but I know that a common trick in woodworking, is to collect some fine sawdust, and mix with pva to form a filler paste.    I've often wodered if a similar trick would work with sanded leather fibres.

I might go and experiment with that idea myself.

I just decided to live with the dent -  This will be my personal rig and the first time I get bucked out of this and drag a rowel across the cantle dish it will scar up even worse!

Why not just cover it with something?  A few conchos across the back, a leather applique, decorative rivets or tacks...just a few thoughts at large.  This is what I would do....make a feature out of it! ;)
