Yup, looks like Consew/Seiko class 7 and similar are now 1000 or 1000H.

Anyone have experience doing a 794 needle conversion on the class 7? I found this thread that walks through the steps, but I'm confused as to how Jadu actually modified the press bar lift link? I purchased two spare lift links from Jacksew to modify, but in Jadu's photo the modified and stock lift links look the same to me.... https://leatherworker.net/forum/topic/94377-singer-class-7-33-leather-sewing-which-needle/

Does anyone know if distance rings need to be added in addition to the shuttle shim when going up in needle size on the 205? I thought I read a thread awhile back about it, but can't seem to find it now and I'm about to do the switch. If it matters, size 280(28) needles.

Found it, it does have the hole I just overlooked it thinking it was for the thread stand. I went ahead and ordered a generic wood one, I didn't know if these were specific to the brand/model but in the end its just a damn head prop lol. Thanks all

So I just received my new to me Seiko JW-28BL-30 from the east coast and super happy with the machine. When they were unloading it one of the guys handed me this piece, but didn't know where from the machine it came. I emailed the seller and they said it is used to hold the machine head in place while tilted up and that the piece was in place during transit and must have snapped at some point. I've pulled the prints for the machine and I can't find a part number anywhere nor have I been able to find it through generic Google searches. Can someone confirm that yes this is stored under the machine head? All the seller said is that it goes in a hole on "the right side of the table" but I can't find a spot and he stopped responding so I'm just assuming it's under the machine head. Anyone know the correct name for this piece or even know a part # or where one can be purchased? This is all I've been able to find and even this goes to a different machine model, does anyone know if the piece from this kit is the same for the JW-28? https://www.ebay.com/itm/123834702280?_skw=seiko+repair+kit&itmmeta=01JH3H3SSJ1H6XQRA78M6VN8NX&hash=item1cd51f99c8:g:xigAAOSwMrxfclO~&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA8HoV3kP08IDx%2BKZ9MfhVJKn0xbftrXj9Thn8%2FPaxLpEuqSo15IzfrxpfrnAERSNb0kH%2Fa80mC4SHSsn%2BH2E7OAogIOZxEsYOEFFD2na749%2BdJ4MMFAmbF4Cd%2FhIwC%2FgZiaQEtKGVp6qeadDsfQH2Q1QpgOcIFqrKfq6AiT91knaohzmobXh7uOgWlTMAKfdE008wD2vBeTA0vIL6BX9dQq%2FyLDo5vLZRuT18qx5%2FAMrJnWS7Q8nO5pjh1tM9SkKmq5ZyH6zTwHN3%2Fyho8kDHMTMteDvzK2Hqa%2BNwsWnQTDsmt6Fjgo5%2FJ1RVBXm6dEBq2g%3D%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR_6cj_GIZQ

Happy holidays all. Sorry if this information is readily available, but Google didn't turn out much after a quick search. Does anyone know exactly what's different on the Consew 733R series between the 2, 3, 4, 5, and now 6? I'm assuming it could be a wide spectrum, anything different or modified would change the series. Hoping someone just happens to know off the top of their head.

Scratch that, looks like the problem may have already been solved. If I end up picking up the machine, I am definitely going to give this a whirl and see if 794s can be adapted on the 733R.

It's definitely overkill for anything I'm working with, but I might be able to pick one up for a descent price(Consew model, that is). Only thing is, the feed dog has some pretty gnarly groves in it, I haven't done my research yet on replacement dogs and if they even have smooth ones. Could always modify it, I suppose. Also looks like leather specific needles for 1000H are sparse, if non-existent as compared to the 794 system. Still doing my research, but so far haven't had much luck.

@DieselTech that is the one. So it sounds like Consew and Seiko could also be clones, but I couldn't find a Singer class 7 in that exact design either. Hmmm

@kgg oh definitely, covered all the aforementioned points. He's got it crated and secured better than shipping fine china I'd have to say ha.

@Constabulary thank you much

Anyone know the #s on the head weight of a 205-370? I'm having one freighted and am trying to get as close to accurate as possible so I'm not slammed on the backend with additional fees. I found one forum that said a 270-374 is 127lbs, another that said at least 175lbs for the 205-370, but the seller is saying at least 200lbs. Any thoughts?

Anyone know which original make/model the Cobra Class 7 is cloned from?

Bobbin Shim for #280/#300 Needles
AaronStand replied to AaronStand's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Well, two of the 160s will give me 3.20mm. I'm just going to shave down a 160 to 120(1.20mm) and combine it with another 160. Seems like no 280 single shims exist. -
Bobbin Shim for #280/#300 Needles
AaronStand replied to AaronStand's topic in Leather Sewing Machines
Oh not at all, I'm just learning the anatomy and operation of the 205 myself so I may call some things the technically incorrect term. I've seen some call it the bobbin shim and others say the shuttle/hook shim which I think is more correct. I just watched this video today which shed a lot of information on the operation and setup of the 205. Here's the link, the first portion of the video covers the shim in question. https://youtu.be/ERgFQjsVG3s?si=K2xKoHWOlGwK4jBb Weaver Shims https://www.weaverleathersupply.com/products/replacement-shims-for-205-sewing-machine?srsltid=AfmBOooHswXvUnHtVd4sn5YOmRR4JwzdVTJvkl3OWnVqfHv5sI8DhvPH -
205-370 I found this question in a post from years ago but no definitive answer was provided in the post. I'm running at least a #280/28 needle, potentially a #300/29 if I can confirm compatibility tomorrow, does anyone know where the heck I can find a bobbin shim above the 250 that Weaver supplies? My last resort is picking up two 160's and have them machined down to 1.4mm each to get the 2.8mm spacing I need but I'm hoping someone might know a place that I've yet to run across...? Any other feedback on running above #250 on the 205? Like any potential issues I may run into? I'm looking at a 415/tex 410 top stitch with a 346/tex 350 lower stitch.

I know the picture quality is toned down so it's difficult to see but there is one photo with a yard stick up to it and it's about 29". I assume it would have been advertised as a 30" cylinder long arm but again I'm no expert. I also think I answered my own question; for some reason of all the research I've done, it was tonight that I came across this company: https://www.maxantindustries.com/delker/index.html Anyone familiar with them? I'm also confused on the table set-up. It seems to me that it defeats the purpose of modifying a unit to this extent when you just turn around and mount it on a non-cylinder specific table. Any thoughts on this?

Hey everyone, new member here but I've been redirected to this website many many times through Google searches. I know there is unfathomable knowledge and experience here which is why I'm excited to have finally joined. I'm looking to pick up leather working as a hobby in the near future after I finish school(between work and school I have no time at the moment). In the meantime I've been researching and getting myself familiar with the most reputable brands out there as far as machines and tooling go. I picked up what I think is a pretty unique machine. I have had a very hard time, and by that I mean I have not been able to, find another one like it. I just reached out today to a local sewing retailer/servicer and it was today that I learned this machine may be a custom modified unit from a standard 205-370. It's obviously an Adler 205 but I can't seem to find any information or pictures of any other 205's that are long arm units. Missouri Sewing Co is the company I reached out to today and they believe it is a stretched unit. Just wanted to throw this on here and see what feedback I get. I know there are some seasoned veterans on here that know their stuff and hoping y'all chime in. Here are a few pics of the unit in question.
