Made One For Myself
Ironwood replied to Ironwood's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thank you abn. Thank you Steve. I actually thought about putting some beads on the lace. I just couldn't decide where to put them. I may have to do a little rethinking on the beads. -

Thanks for the nice comments. I really enjoy making holsters. I guess my next step is to try some carving. -
New Guys Gunrig Attempt
Ironwood replied to skippy's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
I haven't tried doing any carving yet. Hope my second attempt looks as good as yours. Looking forward to seeing the finished product. -
I finished this one a couple of weeks ago. It's been to the range a few times so it already shows a little use. 7-8 Veggie tanned with 4-5 veggie tanned liner. Hand made. Saddle stitched.

My Latest Holster
Ironwood replied to Ironwood's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Sorry I'm so late getting back here. Thanks for you nice comments. I think the hammer thong didn't become popular until the Western Movie era as holsters covered less and less of the revolver. -
My Latest Holster
Ironwood replied to Ironwood's topic in Gun Holsters, Rifle Slings and Knife Sheathes
Thanks everyone, for the kind words. TwinOaks, the revolver rides very low in the holster. The pattern I made this one from didn't show a strap being used. A pattern on the same sheet showed a hammer strap being called for on a holster where the revolver rode much higher in the holster. I'm really a newbie at holsters so I just went by the pattern. -
I've been doing some leather working off and on for a couple of years now. This is my latest holster. Made it for a friend of mine. It's completely lined. Hand sewn with the saddle stitch. I used artificial sinew. 7-8 Veggie tanned tooling leather with a 4-5 veggie tanned tooling leather liner. I know it doesn't compare to the work I've seen here but it's my best so far.

Has anyone mailed a leather item to Australia?
Ironwood replied to CarvedOn's topic in How Do I Do That?
Back in April I sent a small leather ball bag, similar to this one, to a friend in Australia via USPS. Can't remember just how much it cost but I think around $5.00. No problems and it got there just fine.
