I am making leather eyeglass cases/holders. I need the plastic clips for the back of them, so it'll easily clip on a breast pocket. I keep finding metal belt ones, but I have a couple of these and they're too stiff for some people to use. Like the elderly. Thank you.

Just Beautiful! Great idea too. I think my rifle needs this made. Thank you. -
Thanks for the tips guys! I am mostly doing machine embroidery right now. But I do work some leather into it now and then.

Mag246, possibly a good idea, but I don't quite understand. Maybe do a drawing and post it. Thanks.

If you have any pink garment leather, let me know. Would like it thinnish & soft, but not super thin to where it'd tear easily. Send me your price, location, and what it is. Maybe a pic too. If you're willing to trade, I do custom machine embroidery. Otherwise can buy it. Thank you. Terry

Thanks. I think I've talked to this guy. I did find a local person that's going to look at it, and maybe get it running. I just have to find time to take it to him.

I'm about in the middle near Wooster, Ohio. That'd be great! I've been needing to use this machine. Terry

Thanks Art I know Bob. I had been trying to find his number. His son comes through my area and I figured possibly he could take it and return it on his next trip. It's abit far for us to take it to him. Luke, there is NO other sewing machine repair people here that know anything other than house machines. Of course I looked around, but thanks for the advise.

I have an old singer patch walking foot machine. I took it to a sewing machine guy in town to be tweeked so I can use it. You know, timing set, let me know what needles {I took some too him just in case}, etc. Everything's moving on it and it has been oiled and cleaned abit. He called and told me he mostly know home machine so he can't do it. I am desparate to start using it as it's just what I need for alot of my projects and orders. If someone could direct me to someone it would be very much appreciated. Thanks, Terry

I had thought about just braiding some thin leather and tucking & glueing the end to the size needed. If I can't get this other method to work guess I'll have to. Thanks..

Sky I thought of braiding the ring abit bigger than I need and weaving some excess back into to make the size alittle smaller than I need, and glueing it firmly. Wonder if it would hold. twinoaks that's what I would like to do. Guess I'll have to play with this all today and see what I come up with. I have a month to make it but would really like to surprise them with it much sooner. I sure appreciate all the help & tips.

Thankyou. I will read this all and try it tomorrow. It's starting to storm abit and I have barn chores to do. Looks like fun.

I'd love to post a pic of the ring. But I need more info, maybe pics. What leather to use, etc. I'm sure this is a great way to make this but it doesn't make sense to me. Do I use glue or what? I need to get a nice looking ring done. This woman's Husband is allergic to metals so needs this as a weddiing band.

I would like to make sure I'm understanding this properly. This person needs a size 8, they think I should make it a 7 as it'll stretch. SO with this method the ring shouldn't really stretch badly right? Also, size 8 is approx. 2 3/8", so is that per your directions and the outside be 6 and something inches? Oh, they want the ring 3/8" wide. Just trying to make sure I understand this all. I was thinking I could use garmet leather and barges cement. You do mean that the circles be cut open in the middle, and both circles be separate? I know, I sound dumb. Lol..But I want to do this as nicely as possible.

I don't really have time to search the posts right now, but will later if I have to. If someone comes across it please post the link here. Those designs are pretty nice sky. Thanks.

Do I use an garment type leather? I have to read this a few times. I don't quite understand. Lol..

Damon I do hope someone that knows how would come tell us. I need to know soon.

I have someone wanting a leather ring. That part I have but how to close it is a mystery to me kinda. The size is men's 8, so she wants it abit smaller as it'll stretch. I thought of 2 small staples??

I think I should explain, size-wise. This splitter is only 6" wide but even 3-4" doesn't want to go through, only less wide strips. The 8 1/2" was how long the piece was. I opted for using something else. I'm making a leather purse, softish bag. This is the 2nd one I've made in the past couple of weeks. The other one was for a Lady in Pa. I'll have to add the pics to another thread for that.

Thanks Bruce for clearing that up abit. I got this splitter so I could split, add my doo-dads {studs, crystals, etc.} and glue & sew back together. So it requires me to be able to split easily and completely down the middle. Guess this one hide I have may not be for it. But less wide strips may work, just not what I wanted for this project.

Bruce isn't a krebs alittle skiver, not a splitter? I have a skiver too and you can't use them to split straight down the middle, only skiv an end off. I just tryed the splitter on other bridle leather I had and it worked perfectly. Too bad I have a good amount of a hide left that I can't use with this. Oh, it does split less wide things. I was trying to splt a 8 1/2" wide piece. Oh well, will use something else for this project. Thankyou all!

I was right Katy. It's the same thing I downloaded earlier today. It'd be more useful if I could actually read the number on the one page.

I'm not sure if this is where this goes, but I need some help guys. I am trying to split a piece of english bridle leather. For some reason the splitter doesn't seem to like it, but will split other stuff. Where can I read about adjustments, see photos of such, and find any info on the Landis 30 splitter? Thankyou for any help.
