I have only been a member here a couple of day but I have found a wealth of information and great group of friendly people. I am hoping to learn Sheridan style carving and I have been checking out some examples and some tutorials and I just couldn't wait, I just had to have a try at a piece. I have been making a hunting knife and thought I would try a Sheridan style sheath. It is my first try and I still have quite a way to go. I need to learn when to bevel and not to, where to vein and not to, and camouflage and everything really. This is what I came up with anyway.
This is the pattern I came up with. I used a pattern for a folder front and modified it a little. I was not happy with the top so I altered it on the sheath.
This is the knife I made the sheath for.
Both sides of the sheath.
I know I have a long way to go but this place has been so inspiring already I can't wait to get on with my next piece. I am going to have a practice on some scraps before I start the next one. Thanks to you all. Great site!
