  1. Dave, I also wanted to ask you what you thought about the type of lace? Am I correct in assuming that a true leather lace would be more attractive and, dare I say, compliant than the vinyl lace I used? Thanks, George
  2. Thank you Ann. I did not back the bracelets. I simply sewed the edges for looks. My wife wanted pink thread, although I have to admit, it didn't turn out quite as well as I had hoped. Would you recommend backing the bracelet with something? I am super new to this and am open to any and all suggestions. Jo, The rhinestones are synthetic rivets. You actually have to punch a whole for each one and set them with a rivet punch.
  3. Thanks Dave. I appreciate the tips. I will check out your tutorial. -George
  4. These are two bracelets I made for my wife. The pics aren't too good, but oh well. Enjoy! Thanks, George
  5. This is my first attempt at lacing. I used the Double Loop Lace. I used a vinyl lace for cost purposes, but I think it would have turned out a lot better with real leather lace. If there are any details I missed from lack of technique please let me know so I can learn how to do this properly. Thanks, George
  6. Thank you Cowboy. I have to agree with Butch! Your work is impeccable!
  7. Thank you all for the replies!!! Let me ask this... Does the leather need to be cased before I cut it, or should it be dry?
  8. Thanks for the tip. I know the blade is bending, cause I can see it bend, but like you said, I am probably putting too much pressure on it. The only thing about that is it seems like the leather won't cut unless I put a lot of pressure on it. I am just using an exacto knife. Should I use a better/bigger knife? Thanks again.
  9. I am new to leather working and have a done a few small projects for myself and have pretty much figured out most of the basics. Now I need some advice to clean up the rough edges on my work. My main question is, what is the best way/tool to use to cut my patterns out? Right now I am using a utility knife that the bends and cuts my leather at an angle when I cut around corners. I want to learn how to cut a pattern and have smooth round corners and have the whole thing smooth and straight when I get done. Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  10. Some may chuckle at this question, but I am a newby. Can you tell me what you did to achieve that coloring? I just love the rustic natural look, but I have no idea how to get it. Thanks in advance!
  11. First time poster... I joined this site about a week ago and I started playing around/practicing with leather about 2 months ago. I love this site. Everyone is so nice, helpful and supportive. I have finished my first "project". It is a knife sheath for a knife my father in law had.
