My leather sewer is out of pocket and I need a small job of sewing a couple of layers of 12+ oz leather within the next week. Located in the Pacific NorthWest, about 70 miles north of Seattle. I recently purchased an Acme 2C Horizontal Edge Sander. It runs a 2" to 3" x 60" belt. I'm sanding 18" long pieces of stitched two layers of 12oz. leather. My need is to quickly dress up each side of the layers to match. I also add a small radius to each corner. I have a power burnishing tool for further finishing, plus my edge coating. My question is two-fold: Any recommendation as to the grit of the sanding media (80?) and what type of sanding media (aluminum oxide, other?). Thanks!

Putting together my CO2 system to power my Aerostitch and don't see too much posted knowledge on the subject. I've found the correct regulator, now I'm looking for hints and suggestions. One question is: How much sewing can be done on a 20# bottle of CO2? Another question: is it easy to switch between compressed air (shop compressor) and CO2? Any additional information is appreciated.

Dink, thanks for your response. However, at this time I'm really looking for someone here in the Pacific NW. I'm trying to find a service that make economic sense since I'll be needing the service on an on-going basis. Otherwise I'll be looking for a strap cutting machine to purchase.

Hi I'm wondering if there is a Tippmann Aerostitch experienced owner/user in the King, Snohomish, Skagit or Whatcom counties in Washington State. Before states issued their own license plates (the dates varied from state to state), the horseless carriage owners were licensed and given a registration or license number. The vehicle owner provided some form of i.d. using that number, usually mounted on the rear of the vehicle, sometime both front and rear. Sometimes made from steel or even wooden boards with painted or metal numbers, the owners mounted their own plates. One of the more common ways of complying with the law was to order plates made by a mail-order vendor and these were commonly made from leather. This is what I duplicate and at the same time I protect license plate collectors by ensuring that there are a couple of ways of making sure that these reproductions cannot be passed off as originals. I'm new here in the group. Recently purchased a slightly used Tippmann Boss (aluminum). I'll be doing some occasional flat work and I'm sure that a flatbed will be necessary for my use.
