Hi,
I have got given a bag with off-cuts, different colors different thickness. Some are soft, and some are hard like cardboard.
How do I know what they are? What type of leather?
Some of them I can stitch with a glover's needle, others I have to saddle stitch.

Got my Awl from sheridan the other day,
What a diffrence working with it.
I can acctually pearce the leather, and do some sewing now.
I thought I was doing something wrong with the cheap awl, (Beginer as I am)
I would recomend it to everyone.
Thank you Sheridan, You made my day

Hi From NZ,
I am looking for a good Stitching awl,
To stitch saddlery and harness.
What size would you recomend, maybe more than one?
What brand?
Does anyone know where I can buy one, that also will send it to nz.
I am sick of these cheap multi tools that don't stay in the handle or slide around.
I cant do a nice fim hole with them.
Thanks for you help

Hi everyone,
I have done my first stiching, ever today, It feels great.
I followd Al Stohlmans instructions, it worked a treat.
I only repaired old broken stiches on my horse harness, but I did it.
Now what next can I do, I am sure have more broken bits I can repair.
Until next time, have a great day
