  1. Wondering what the general feelings are abut the campbell /randall needle and awl stitches for sadales and tack manufacture. Been looking at one a long Time but just haven't pulled the trigger. Sewed on one many years ago but don't remember much about them .
  2. Here are 3 of the leather knife styles we will be selling. 5160 steel 58-60 rc hardness stag ,epoxy resin, and wood handles . Hand forged full tang top quality easy to sharpen and hold a good edge. $100 Free shipping included
  3. Have pretty much tried everything. I've never seen this problem exactly like this. I've tried just about everything. I heard saddlers one step cleaner and conditioner might do it. I am about to the point of calling it good and sending it back like it is
  4. How would you attempt to soften up a super dry hard leather on a saddle. The regular meats foot and lexol seems to be having no effect. Never seen this before. Any suggestions ?
  5. These are new hand forged round knives with stag handles. Full tang construction made from 5160 steel and have a RC hardness of 58-60. Easy to sharpen and get really sharp. They cut like they are supposed to $100 each guaranteed
  6. Has anyone built or even seen work saddles built out of harness leather instead of skirting ? I saw a couple years ago when I was working with Carl Darr. I've often wondered how they held up over the years. At the time they were used hard and we're pretty rough and we're old but I've never seen another one
  7. Has anyone ever built a saddle with harness leather instead of skirting leather. I saw a couple many years ago when i was working for Carl Darr but don't remember much about them . I was wondering how they hold up under hard use ? Stretch compared to skirting ,durability.
  8. Ive seen a lot written about inskirt rigging and it's strengths and weaknesses but noting about how to build a sure enough bullet proof inskirt rigging.About all that is ever said is its good "if put in properly" but nothing really said about exactly what is put in properly. I've seen some supposedly strong inskirt rigs that were anything but strong. Sure they give close contact but actually strong what I've seen were far from it. Close contact strong and lightweight seem to not go together. Hopefully someone can shed a little light on how to make it strong and lightweight at the same time

  10. What machine is best for sewing heavy canvas. I have the oportunity to build bedrolls and tarps for a feller but question the pearson #6 or landis#1 to do this light if sewing. Any ideas ?
  11. Look for a landis #1. They can be adjusted to sew very well. People who disagree just don't know how to set them up. They are not quite up to the level of a pearson #6 but very close and can be bought for under $1000
  12. Looking for a Landis #1 shuttle in VERY good shaoe. I am looking to get some made and need 1 for the machinist to use as a pattern .please contact me
  13. Looking for a Landis #1 shuttle in VERY good condition.I am looking to get some made and need 1 to use as a pattern for the machinist to copy. If anyone has anything please contact me
  14. I have a pearson #6 and a Landis #1. I like both machines equally well. They each have their strong points and their place in the shop. I was hoping we could get the wners and users of these fine machines together in one place to share tips and possibly a few parts from those who have extras
  15. How many of these machines are in use today with leatherworkers. I used my Pearson #6 as a lone machine for everything until I got the Landis #1 now I'm using them both
  16. If someone were to get new shuttles made for the Landis #1 how many people would be interested. Would there be enough demand to make it a fordable
  17. Ok thanks for the information. Here it is It is not as refined as the Pearson by a long shot but this one sews good and if much better than my first one
  18. Can' figure out how to post a picture. Says it' too big
