  1. Where is the best place to get top quality linen thread
  2. . Is anyone using waxed linen thread in The older pearson /landis type machines. Or is everyone using the nylon/poly thread. About all I've ever used has been the modern thread but seems like there is information out there that the waxed linen has several advantages. Can anyone that has used both chime in with some good info
  3. I was thinking about using it in my pearson#6 or landis#1 but didn' know if there is any advantage Since you use both what is your thoughts

  5. Interested in the stitcher email me Medicinehatsaddlery@yahoo.com
  6. I'd be careful. I had one that even though they worked on it 3 different times never got it to sew and told me they couldn' fix it and they didn' t replace it. That machine is floating arround somewhere and I know you sure don' want that one. I traded it to a guy that said he could fix it easy but I found out he got frustrated and got rid of it so be careful. It could be that machine
  7. The pearson is a great machine and I wouldNT sell it at all it is too good for everything else. I was just looking for another machine to add to the shop that would do this nice and clean
  8. The problem I'm having is when I sew up close to lije a cart buckle and you have to tilt the buckle up to get close there is no room for the buckle to raise
  9. What machine ,foot, and plate combination will allow you to sew the closest to buckles on headstalls. I think a new machine or nearly new is on order
  10. I was thinking of it as being used to line the skirts instead or in place of sheepskin. As I remember these were pretty old and worn saddles but tge felt linning still looked ok
  11. I was wondering if anyone has had experience with felt as a liner for skirts. I remember seeing one come through the shop a long time ago for a horn cover. I always wondered how well that worked or if anyone uses it

  13. I'm getting a low angle wooden compass shave. This maker has supplied some yo a saddle maker and the maker ordered a second one so hopefully this will work good. I have a old stanley 51 flat bottom that I used but is dull now. I'll let everyone know how it works. Incident it will pretty much be used exclusively on ground seats
  14. What are you using the safety beveler and razor blades or a spokeshave. What seems to work best

  16. Looks like my machine might be way off adjustment. The screw that adjusts the stitch length dosent meet up straight with the dial screw on the back side
  17. I have tried adjusting that screw you were talking about but I think it's something else. That screw dont seem to effect it too much. I slacked off the set screw and moved that screw a lot in as well as out it don't touch tge adjusting knob hardly at all
  18. If I set the dial on 0 as far as it will go it will sew 5 spi. If I set it on 12 it will sew 9. So it is set on 5 and sewing 5 1/2 very tight clean nice stitches but no adjustment that I can see with tge dial
  19. I'll get some.pics in the.morning but if the knob is turmed till the bolt touches each other it sews almost in the same hole. I think that's right. I adjusted the screw behind the arm till I got 7 stitches per inch and left it. I need to go back and get it right
  20. MattS I have the pearson sewing really nice right now but the knob that is supposed to adjust the stitch length don't adjust anything it just spins and the stitch remains the same. I love the machine but it's just sewing 7 to the inch
  21. To match the stitching when Re lining saddles. I have not had good luck with the 441 and adler machines in the past. I have a pearson but the stitch length knob does not work oro]rely. Maybe it just needs to be corrected
