  1. Lucky!!! Mine won't be here for another 3 weeks....can't wait!

Well my Cobra 4 has made it to the house. Truck just showed up at the house today with my machine. I was expecting it around Thursday. Nice surprise. Got it unpacked and put together in a few hrs. This baby sews great right out of the box. Time to jam, I have a ton of work ready for this machine. Those of you waiting, trust me its worth the wait. Steve does a great job on these machines. You wont be sorry you purchased one. Thanks Richard Epting www.eptingknives.com

  3. In case you are still looking for the Sam Browne Buckles are available at http://springfieldleather.com/store/search.asp

    search for sam browne

    good luck

You don't buckle a Sam Browne per se. Once you put that buckle on the billet end in the correct position (i.e. size it) all you do is hook it onto that little hook in your photo. Then you push the billet down over the Sam Browne stud and slide the keeper over it.

If you want a buckle-less Sam Browne belt Safariland LTD. makes (or made) them. You might search for that and be able to find a shot that'll show how that one is made. You may not be able to find their exact hardware, but Siegel's of CA. has (or had)a hook that would work. Then you'll need good velcro if you're going to copy it exactly as the Safariland buckle-less was designed as a set, having velcro lining and a velcro covered under-belt.

See if you can get to this page, it's page #162/163. The hook you showed is on the left side, bottom row. The Safariland hook I mentioned is there also: far left, bottom row. The Sam Browne studs are there also.

  4. How, exactly, do you use the foodsaver in the making of the holster?

I didn't see anyone answer your question, so here goes...

once your holster or sheath is cut out, we your leather well. Wrap the gun or knife in saran wrap....it's needs to stay dry!! wrap the leather around the item where it's going to be set. put it in a vacuum sealer bag..it's a specially designed bag that let's the air out when put in the sealer. Ziplocs don't work... most vacuum sealer bags have a bumpy side and a smooth side, make sure which side you want is on the outside of the holster. put the bag in the sealer and start it...it will vacuum all the air out and compress the leather around the item. leave it about 12-24 hours to mold well..... open the bag and let it dry a bit before you take the gun out to do the finishing.

    Good luck

  5. Paul,

You have been my inspiration to carve and color leather!!! You sent me the revised duck picture a couple of years ago!! My husband and I opened a leather and craft supply in Taos, NM this last May!!! Thanks for all of the training!!!

  6. I belive your best bet is to try and find some new or used tools that are close as you can get to the orginal . Unless you want to spend the money to have tool maker make them for you. I would look at all of the web sites that sell tools and on ebay and see if you get lucky and find the right stamp or one close enough to the orginal.

    Thanks!!!

Trying to find the exact designs will be like finding a needle in a haystack. There are some stamp makers on the forum that can help you out though. For this project one time project, you can have some of the less expensive laser engraved Delrin stamps made.

Thank you for the info! I will check into that!!
