I enjoy participating in living history reenactment of the Viking Age. I also love cross country skiing, and I'm slowly working on a project to reproduce ancient Norwegian skis, and then use them while dressed as a Viking. I've done this with an antique pair of "modern" wooden skis, and I will admit that the skiing is a lot slower, and much harder, especially with just one pole. Ufda!
