I have a good old hard seat plantation saddle that I'd like to find a home for. I bought it to overhaul - needs new rigging and panels (navy blue wool serge, stuffed with hair) and quite a bit of restitching, but it's all there, tree and major leather is sound and good. Has a pair of hooded stirrups, and mis-matched slider fenders to go on the stirrup leathers. Fits a medium wide back, with plenty of wither clearance. I think I have about eighty bucks in it, but would send it to an interested party for the cost of shipping - likely about $40 by UPS to anyplace in continental USA.
These saddles are GREAT to ride - the gaited horse folks and field trial folks love them for their walking horses. These old ones beat the heck out of the new manufactured ones.
Clearing out the shop to get into operation again.... expect more oddball listings!

Kate; if this saddle is still available I would love to entertain its presence in my shop?

My friend has asked me to look into a saddle she took in on trade. After some research via the Internet I found out this is a authentic Texas Saddlery Saddle stamped 91025. What I am trying to determine is its actual fair market value in excellent condition? Also have some general question if anyone knows more about the saddle maker and how he went about the build and materials utilized?
Thanks in advance~

Thanks WyomingSlick~This has been very helpful in organizing my older tools I have~
I got to thinking that perhaps someone might be able to use the numerical sequanced index I mentioned above. So here it is. It is not as "pretty" as my grouped index as it is simply a rough guide that is useful in identifying a Craftool by it's number quickly. Being and earlier version, this will not have all of the tools that are in the grouped index. And again I ask: if anyone has a Craftool stamp that I have missed, please let me know.
Someday when I have the time I hope to make a better index by taking all on my tools and stamping them into leather and scanning the result.

Thanks Clay, most very helpful~
These are pages scanned from a catalog from 1953. I re-sized them so not sure how well they will show up here.

You might try a Harness Shop that carries a variety of buckles and clasp like this. You also might inquire with either Axelrod Company http://www.axelrodco.com or Ohio Travel bag Co. http://www.ohiotravelbag.com or Alibab.com http://www.alibaba.com I am certain if you advise them of the application this is used for and provide dimensions details they can find it for you.

I have recovered 170 spools 525 feet of 9-Ply/Waxed/Polyester/twisted hand sewing thread going to waste. This is most excellent for saddle stitching by hand for various pieces. This was made by Coats North America and is very hard to come by for saddle makers/repair/restoration. If you know anyone interested please send them my way, and I'll be happy to send them as many as they want for small price of $10 per spool.

I am looking for copies or PDF files from earlier catalog's from Tandy that were from the 50's - 60's -70's that showed those tools by either name or number and example picture of the tool's end. IF you know where I can locate or pursue them I would greatly appreciate it.
I have tried Tandy and they were no help.

Hello, most TexTan are worth repairing and using or reselling. The one you have is worth very much fixing back up. They usually bring in around $500-$700 in the Midwest area. Just to let you know~
