New Smartphone Case
bluesman1951 replied to Natalie O's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Nice job . Stitching spacing from the edge is perfect. Honest feed back : The top edge needs some burnishing rub it with some lovin . Suggestion make the cut out on both sides so front and back are the same . The little wolf is nice thats class! Suggestion : that location is a nice place for a makers mark something that says YOU . If the wolf is it then so be it . Its nice work so it needs to be signed . I have found a grover used on the inside will prevent cracking on the very bottom when making the fold. Suggestion if you extend your pattern for a flap and bring it up and over with a nice flap shape add a snap and you get two bags from the same basic pattern . This is good for coins and credit cards . This could also be adjusted for business cards . Just throwing out ideas . This is a very fine case you have here time will give it that "RUBBED " look giving it charcter. My compliments ! The makers mark is your signature something that says "NATALIE" easily recogniseable . Like the Mercedes emblem says style and class . For a second try this gets applause !!!!!!!!! Good luck with future projects and have lots of happy hours at your bench . Bill -

Document Folder With Betta
bluesman1951 replied to cjdevito's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Very nice job . Never seen the two tone lace done like that . Very appealing ! This I would enjoy seeing in a black and brown combination . Gave me some ideas the black interior is a nice touch. This is a example of a useful product that would be used every day with lots of directions for other similar uses . A promotional item for a company with their logo on the cover and company colours . Client gifts from a company with custom cover to show apperication for doing business . The potential is huge many directions with lots of people happy to recive this . You have nailed it with this project simple elegant and above all useful daily. Consider it as a device case with out the small inside flap . I am impressed this has market appeal and good lines and dimensions .This is a class act . You have set the bar here . Good luck with this I hope you do well with it . Warm Regards Bill -
First impression was :That should work just fine .. Looks like very good quality work. I agree with Mike the strap ends need some containment some how to clean up the lines .First class work ,thanks for sharing . Bill

Blackberry Case
bluesman1951 replied to Shiloh's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
I agree with you ,the next will be better . A finished product is the result of a long string of small perfect events that give the final result. At each point we must weigh the risk versus the reward . When using a edge groover it always mirrors the edge it followed if its not perfect then neither is our groove . This is risk verus reward situation . I dont understand the concho it will hang up on the pocket going in and out. Next the chicago screw on the inside creates a damage the screen issue . Then there is the side to side issue it cant be off by more than 1/16 " and yet it makes a big difference . Risk verus /reward issue once again . This project has value in its teaching experience and for that I applaud your efforts and for sharing it . I am going to make some of these cases at some point and I have learned from your project . THANKS !!!! At every stage of a project you risk all the small perfect steps with the next one . I have been there and made those mistakes so dont feel alone there . Learn and resolve not to repeat the error and start the next project are all we can do . Good Luck with your next one !!!!! Warm Regards Bill -

When seeing one of these projects I am always impressed by the long string of perfect steps it took to arrive at its completion. From concept to the first cut to every measurement in its lay out . This was time well spent and a labour of love no doubt . My compliments on a right fine project . Well done !!! Bill

Your first hurdle is you are in Canda ,thats going to complicate things a bit . Pictures would help alot . Depending on the quality of the dies to have one made is going to run from 60.00 and up . So thats a chunk of money there . Pictures is going to be the key to sucess here ,that and doing your homework and research on value in the used market . Good Luck . Bill

I would use a 3m aersol glue product like they use to attach headliners .Ease of use ,fumes and cost are considerations here . The pig skin being the least thick should be placed on the table and sprayed with the glue . The heaver piece when sprayed and tacked up is then lined up and allowed to lay down on the pig skin . Press firmly and the turn over and roll out any wrinkles with a wide roller . This will not become un bonded and in my opinion will work well .As to the bar no big deal drilling holes so why not ? Consider total thickness and rivet length before embarking down the road . Hint :auto upolstrey shops and marine supply are good sources for rivets of all lengths . Tandy deals with belts and their metal supplies are geared towards that end making the selection limited . Good luck with your project . Think simple , industrial and repeatable and the result will be harmonious always . Bill
