I was wondering if anyone has some experience with a Fortuna 12" band splitter? I just bought it a month ago and I'm having trouble making it work properly. Most of the time when I put a piece of say 6" x 7" 4 oz leather and I want to make it 2 oz the splitting is uneven or the machine "eats" part of the piece. Please help! Thank you.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction to get my products looking like coming out of a factory. I see a lot of briefcases and wallets that look totally awesome and shiny but for some reason mines looks very dull at the end. Any help would be highly appreciated.

Anyone knows a good source for Italian calf leather? I've been browsing around the web for days and can't seem to find anything. I need a very nice leather for some wallets I'm working on, but can not find the right material. I was also looking for Box Calf but it is near to impossible to find as well. Any help will be highly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I am kind of new to leather work but I really like it and I'm thinking to get a sewing machine. The dilemma that I face is that I would like to make shoes in the near future but for the moment I'm working on wallets. The prices for this machines are not on the low side and I would like to get the most out of my investment. I've done some research on the post and the cylinder sewing machines but there are so many opinions that I feel a bit lost, some folks recommend the post, others the cylinder, some say the walking foot, others the roller foot, and honestly I don't know where to put my money. I know that there is a lot of people in this forums that have far more experience than I do, and I would really appreciate any bit of help that could point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Hello everyone, I do some leather work here and there and I really like it. I would like to learn men's shoe-making but I've been trying to find a place near Los Angeles and it has been near to impossible. If anybody has a suggestion can you please share it with me. Thank you for everyone's help. Brandon
