When doing this style of slot here is what I do.

I made a slot cutter out of box cutter blades and spacers. Bolted them together. I lay the clicker on the leather and put it in my book press. Press it down. The two close mounted blades leave a thin strip of leather. I use a straight edge to align a punch and cut a round hole at the end of the slot, leaving a clean area for the cards to slide through.

This sample is just a quick example on a scrap. With a little time you can get perfect slots every time with this setup.

Awesome idea, but my question is how do you do the lining in it to keep cards seperated?

  2. I get $75 to $100 for the wallets I make. People actually see, feel and smell them when picked up. They instantly take their old wallet outand compare how hefty mine is , how solid, well made......they always snort the thing like its heaven or something. A few have told me they would pay $200 if I actually charged that.....but im not a theif. They work hard for their money as do we all. I make it worth my time....sometimes....sometimes I just get carried away as the one I just posted. Lol

  3. post-30272-0-34382300-1365704296_thumb.jtried something new for a customer and it came out awesome i think, what about all of you. it's on 8 oz - 9oz herman oak tooling side from springfield leather, cut in out line with swivel knife and beveled it. used acrylic paint , and beveled the detail with out cutting leather. black feibings dye in background. took about 4 hrs all together. making it a koozy.

  4. i sell alot of these as well as can coolies people eat them up. i cant make enough of them. i've posted a bunch of pics of some i done, pretty simple they are a great starter piece when first starting out in leather ....i think.

  5. now this is what i do, maybe not the right way.......dob the edge with lil water, burnish lightly, then i apply edge kote from tandy leather supply, burnish till its uniform. then buff till it shines, shines, shines. then i'll rub the edge on my beeswax blosk and buff forever till it absorbs. gives you a nice clean slick edge thats waterproof from sweat and whatever it may be submerged in. hope this helps buddy and have fun with it.
