  1. can i ask a question please, do you have to make any safe guards against the dreaded mice, or do they even go for leather? sorry if this a dumb question but i don't know...
  2. nice one, thank you shadowryder, i have added them to my list now, looks like they have a few things i can use. al
  3. nice setup, easy reach of the medicine bottles too....like it
  4. a question to to those craftsmen selling their wares to Europe and England. is there another similar for the states? do you have your goods ce certified or do you even need it? was reading a post on another forum (crafting), although they were making toys (hobby crafters but still selling) told they need to be ce certified, does this apply to leather goods etc. al
  5. leatherkind, you want to be getting idea out into the web world and sell them little brackets to people like us that struggle with the lighting. you never know. the person who invented tie wraps must of done ok out of it. and not everyone has heard of 3d printing.... al
  6. I am hoping one day within the next couple of decades to be able to travel over on holiday, so you never know. and I'm doing well on the health front, I've cut down on my tea habit a bit, i'm down to about a gallon of tea a day,
  7. thank you Ray.........i'm a little sceptical about having goods sent in from the us, the last time i had a bobbin case brought in, postage and price were good, but our very own customs and excise nearly doubled the cost by slapping ridiculous tax on it. trouble with it is you dont know if they are going to do until it arrives, they hold it and wont hand over till you pay em...the so and so's thanks though mate al
  8. thanks Humperdingle, think ill probably have to do same, but lots of....
  9. Hi everyone, is there any where in the uk, that i can buy a mixed lot of rivets of different styles and sizes, rather than bag lots of each. thanks al
  10. thanks guys, i dont want to give too much away on what I'm trying to make just yet, haven't seen anything like it yet, probably is out there i just haven't seen it yet. but as far as the swivel thing goes, it needs to be as flat as possible, worried about rivets as they may make a localised lump/bump which could damage the thing its holding if pressed against. if that makes sense, sorry, will let you in on it as soon as i figure it out, if i can. don't know how to describe this but here goes, I did think about two plastic washers, one large with large middle hole, other smaller with smaller middle hole. the larger one sewn to one piece of leather around the outside of disc, and the small one (washer) sewn to the other leather around the inside of hole inner, the smaller one would have to be sewn whilst it was behind the larger one so the sewing would be passing through the hole of the larger one. problem i can see apart from being incredibly fiddly, (if at all possible) is it would have to rotate on the thread so probably wouldn't last long. clear as fog innit al

cool I like it. they look great
  12. the Lazy Susan mechanism would be perfect if it was made from plastic and an inch dia, but i can't seem to find anything like this for the non business.
  13. sorry I mistakenly posted this in the critique forum, so re written here and will not try to delete the old one, DOH! Hi guys i am playing around with ideas, and i am stuck on one bit, i need to connect permanently two squares of leather together in the middle but still be able to swivel them around independently, or spins around without the other. i can't use a rivet or anything like that as I need what ever fixes them to the leather to be robust and flat against the leather and not cause bulges. probably sewn on...like sewing two discs together so they can spin around in opposite directions... any ideas???? please I've seen something made out of plastic, two rings connected together that spin, but i can't remember where al
  14. thanks if i get the chance to travel over, I'll definitely pop in, I'm a typical English tea-holic though so you'll need to get the kettle on...he he

  17. unbelievable, just looked there's one very similar to mine....how much!......I've been very lucky, I was given this, it was stuck in a corner of a garage where the roof leaked.....and looked like junk, all rusty and seized. I'm now an even happier little chappy
  18. thank you, can't wait to play properly with it
  19. there is a leather fragrance/ smelly, which leather suite technicians use sometimes to spray under seats in cars or on suites when they have repaired them. haven't used it so don't know how close the smell is though. believe it is oil based al
  20. Hi I have just finished this, it was badly rusted some of the center pins had rusted solid and it didn't look very healthy so dismantled it, removed all the rust re painted and greased, now ready to work i think. but one piece is missing so would like to know if i can get a replacement and also find out what the other bits are for. so does anyone know who the makers of this is and also what is the flower shaped thing for? (can't think of another way to put it.) any ideas please thanks al
  21. is this white stuff a kind of milky substance almost greasy, if so could it be leather spew, fats that have surfaced?
  22. Thanks everyone, Shiloh, i have had reasonable postage charges with things that i have bought from the us, its our own tax and import that cripples it, last time they hit my deliver hard and nearly double the cost of the actual article adding another £11.00 on at this end.... woodbone and stone, thanks worth thinking about, i have an old washing machine motor in the shed might try to set it up as a burnisher at some point when i've got time. Jax thanks, found them last night, instore I think? didn't tandy pull out and these took over?? al
