  1. Wow! That does look like more than a bit. Beautiful!
  2. Oops! The C-lon Tex 400 is .9mm just barely under 1mm. Sorry for the typo.
  3. I thought I'd suggest a cord I've used for hand sewing leather since I've seen posts for folks looking for additional colors. I have a fiber and beading background and I use C-lon for beading and kumihimo braiding in addition to leather sewing. The standard C-lon is Tex 210, 3-ply, z twist, 35 pound breaking strength. It doesn't come in large spools (86-92 yds.) but it comes in 104 colors. The C-lon Tex 400 is .09mm and 75 pound breaking strength and comes in 72 colors. C-lon comes in finer weights as well. You buy it from beading and micro-macrame suppliers. My usual source is Marion Jewels in FIber. There are other sources that are easy to google but she has some great info on thread/cord specs. There is another cord called S-lon (Superlon) that is virtually the same and available from different beading suppliers.

This is how the bike looks so far.
  5. From the album: My bike

I made this as a seat cover that fits over the original seat. It is laced on underneath. I am happy with the fit. I had hoped to keep the tooled part closer to natural vegtan color but was unsuccessful with that but I am reasonably pleased with it anyway. As always, I learned a lot making this and would do things a bit differently next time.
  6. Thank you for the encouraging comments. I'm just starting the seat for MY bike. I cut out the leather yesterday. I haven't decided on the tooling design for the vegtan strip around the sides but I have lots of sketches to work with so far. It will have a Native American flavor. I'll post some pictures once it starts to look like something.

This shows the zipper opening to the bag. It runs the complete length of the bag for easy access.

These bags hold rain suits. They attach to the rails on top of the hard saddlebags with polyester web straps secured with d-ring closures on the inside of the bags. The flaps are secured on the end closest to the front of the bike with rivets and secure on the other end with a turn latch. They fold back to access the zipper. The body of the bags are cut in one piece and join at the zipper and at the ends with double-loop lacing. These are completely lined with leather and are reinforced between the layers with interfacing and fiberboard.

The seat cover just evolved to cover the passenger Propad seat that is black leather but pretty unattractive.

This bag has a brass strip on the inside back that holds it against the windshield. It has a magnetic closure. The beaded loops are used to hold sunglasses.

The lid on this bag was tooled then molded. It has a lining-leather backing and is stuffed with polyester fiberfill to maintain its shape. It has a magnetic closure and the pocket is gussetted so it opens wide enough to really use.
  12. From the album: Hawk themed motorcycle accessories

These leather accessories were made between July 2012 and June 2013. They are made from black motorcycle leather, vegtan tooling leather and lining leather. They are all hand-sewn, hand-laced and leather lined. The bag designs and tooling designs are my original work. They have been on this motorcycle since each item was made and although the bike stays inside when not in use it has been rained on many times over the past couple of years. Aside from some discoloration on the tooled portions and some bend marks on the windshield bag they have held up well.
  13. Here are the leather items I made for my husbands HD Roadking. The windshield bag and tank bib/bag have been on the bike for two years. The saddlebag toppers and propad passenger seat cover have been on for a year. They are holding up well in spite of getting wet quite a few times. I have meant to post these for some time.
