  1. I bought this saddle at an auction this weekend and was told it is a saddle from world war 1. the only marking I can find is the plate that says '11 inch seat'. I am curious if it is in fact from world war 1 and if it could be restored. any opinions are welcomed
  2. how much to ship to Canada?
  3. thanks! upon closer inspection, I can see that its had several repairs done to it. anyone else? :D
  4. I bought this saddle several years ago from an old drunk saddle shop owner. he had attempted to restore it but clearly didn't possess the skills to do so. it fit my horse well so I bought it for cheap. it has since been on probably 50 or so different horses and fit most. I've put a lot of hours in it and I still love it. I can't find any info whatsoever about Kenway saddles online, so I was hoping that someone here may know something. we just fixed it up and I'm curious. it measures 15" seat, 26.5" skirt, 16" swell and 6" wide. any info at all would be appreciated!
  5. thanks for the offer, much appreciated. I was able to order it with an awl from a certain awesome member on here :D and I do agree, and have been researching to find a sewing machine to invest in the near future. thanks to everyone for the helpful replies!
  6. I knew this looked familiar and then I reread your username and it clicked that I saw this on fb. Apparently, you and I haunt the same forums (HF and this one). How random lol. Anyways, beautiful work, I hope I can one day find some creativity to take a stab at carving.
  7. thank you very much for clarifying this for me :D
  8. I think I'll pass on the stuff for sale, as he doesn't want to split it up, and I don't want to waste money on garbage, I want good quality stuff. The leather and absolutely everything was bought brand new from Tandy. I'm ok with saving $ on some stuff that isn't as important, but not everything. I've done lots of reading and I'll be going with the Cobra, Techsew or Cowboy. I'm really liking the Techsew due to the lifetime support and the fully loaded package. I'm open to looking into used ones though. Does anyone have any opinions on these machines?
  9. This is an old thread, but I'm wondering what grid for diamond paste works best for stropping?
  10. So I just talked to the guy. Its a Tippmann Boss, has been used for only a few small projects. Also comes with 6" splitter used 10 times, patterns for chaps, saddle bags, spur straps and more, stitching pony, dies, punches, 3 different font and size alphabet stamps, swivel knife with hairblade, un used leather rolls, and lots more. The bad thing is that it was all bought brand new, from Tandy in 2005, so its all Craftool. I'm not sure if this is something I should bother looking at or not, any thoughts? Thanks to everyone that has replied!
  11. Any opinions on the Tippmann machine? The contents of an entire personal leather shop is for sale in my area, including leather, patterns, and a Tippmann machine.
  12. Thank you very much! Is there a big difference between the machines from Cobra, Cowboy or Techsew? I really want to be sure because this is a huge investment for me!
  13. What machine should I be looking for? I don't even know where to start looking, and what to look for. I am going to be sewing horse tack, and would prefer to get one that is a step above what I need, so that I won't be ever taking the machine to its limits. Any advice, pointers, and warnings on what to avoid and what to look for would be greatly appreciated. :D
