Everyting works fine with an IE based broswer I use, but it doesn't work correctly with Opera, I can't get past the menus. I even ordered twice for a Canada location this month...

Leather link belt or straps?
gtech replied to gtech's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Cool... That's the kind of ideas I was looking for... This morning, I bought a Tandy kit locally to make a link belt like the one I ordered a few days ago. So I began to play with it. But what I like from your design is that the links are simpler to make. I still have to figure how to assemble them together though... Thanks... Added: Ok, I think I got it. You are also using a lacing to hold everything together. Btw, were you able to have a die/punch made for that? I just found your thread... http://leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?s...pic=6942&hl -
Leather link belt or straps?
gtech replied to gtech's topic in Purses, Wallets, Belts and Miscellaneous Pocket Items
Well, that's what I will do to make another guitar strap like the one I have, but I also saw some smaller men belts made with a double row of links. So it's these other designs that I would like to learn to do. Added: Ok, I found a leather link belt kit on Tandy site and order one. That's a start... http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/home/de...s/42064-01.aspx -
Hi there, I have not been very active on the forum yet by lack of time, but I hope to be able to change that soon. Today I received a guitar strap I ordered from Ebay, and it is a 2.5" wide leather link belt. I always liked that kind of leather work and I would like to experiment with that to make bracelets, belts and more. I will also make a couple of guitar straps based on that design too. Now, I tried to find some info about the leather links and found nothing yet. Do any of you know where I could have more info, like design ideas, how to cut the links, where to buy some already made links, etc... Here is an example of what I mean. Any suggestion is welcome, Thanks

Just to make it easier for you, without repeating myself... Here is a link to the original thread I mentioned http://www.leatherworker.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=2067 And don't worry, I will post some pics of finished leather projects. Salutations tout le monde Gilles

The design is engraved in the metal. I added the leather after the guitar felt on the floor... After using a hammer to straighten things, I was left with no more chrome on some places. So I used the leather to cover the damaged part. I was lucky (in my bad luck...) that it happened exactly there. It just looks like an added feature. So you are right about adding the same pattern on the leather. I always wanted to do it but never found the time, and never really knew how to do it until today. I wanted to use an airbrush to paint the design, but it would look better embossed. I am waiting for some tools that I ordered to work on leather. I will post an update as soon as I can do it. Chrome or metal goes well with leather indeed. I also like wood combined with leather. Gilles

my first bracelets and rings
gtech replied to candyleather's topic in Collars, Cuffs, Leashes and Leads
I already made a few bracelets using the mystery braid technique, but I must say that I love the way you made yours. Thanks for sharing the idea. I will borrow your idea for my own use... Gilles -
I just realised that I said too much about myself in another section of the forum to repeat myself here... But after seeing the number of experts here on the his forum, being a beginner in leatherwork, I can say that I should learn a lot with you guys, and hopefully be able to help someone myself someday. I like to do guitar related stuff with leather, but I love leatherwork, so I don't stop there. I like to make bracelets, etc... Gilles

Thanks guys. Well Ken... winter is long in Quebec you know... it just gets a little warmer sometimes... It reminds me that I forgot to say that I'm from Quebec, Canada. I live in a condo, so there are some things that I can't do inside, like working on wood and spraying the finish on a guitar. So I kind of separate what I do in winter and in summer. This summer, I built quite a few guitars, and I kept some work to do this winter on those I didn't complete. Things like putting them together, working on the electronics, and making some leather pickguards... A leather guitar case would be fun to do also. These are things I do for myself, but I could decide to make some for sale someday. Gilles

Hi everybody, I just registered today after checking a few posts, and I thought I could start by presenting myself. I'm a guitar player, and always liked to work with leather for as long as I remember. I already made a couple guitar straps but nothing too fancy, just some leather cut at the correct size. I also made a few gig bags to hold my things and a few things for my wife. Now, this year I began to get more serious about what I wanted to do with leather. I want my guitar straps to look good, and I want to do more. I already began some work on a few guitar pickguards from leather and also a few more straps. So I thought this would be a nice forum to be this winter... Here are a few examples of things I would like to be able to do someday. But first, here is something I am working on right now. And here is what some people do. http://www.eldoradostraps.com/pickguard.htm http://www.layli.net/ http://i38.photobucket.com/albums/e125/Tim...deroEsquire.jpg http://www.atomicguitars.com/leathertele1.jpg http://www.flickr.com/photos/billbaeck/set...6307759/detail/ http://www.medinamade.com/semicustom/index.php Etc... Oh, another one I made I have another pickguard that I am working on and that will have a bull head stamped on it. But I just began to trace the design on it today and I don't have any picture of it yet. This is the first one I want to complete, and I would like to use the same design for a guitar strap. So now you know what got me interested in this forum, and what kind of work you can expect to see from me... Thanks for reading me so far. Gilles

Being a guitar player, and trying to learn how to work with leather, guitar straps are something I also want to try to do. So keep on posting info on that subject please... Gilles
