The Barely Running Saddle Shop was originally created around 2002 with the simple idea of wanting to create quality, custom leather goods that are nice enough for show but tough enough for use. Building a quality product is very important to me because I have always admired the cowboys that are still working everyday on the large ranches and they only deserve the best. After taking a brief hiatus to get married to my beautiful bride and then another break to have two of the greatest kids in the world, the old BR is back open for business in 2009. Providing leather goods such as belts, guitar straps, and photo albums; the BRSS has created items for the likes of Doug Moreland, Cody Braun of Reckless Kelly, and earned an endorsement from cowboy preacher/poet Jeff Gore. I have been self taught by studying the greats such as Don King, Chester Hape, Dale Harwood, and Steve Mecum. Also using influence from a friendship with Cash Cooper, one of the best saddlemakers in Texas, I've done my best to create great pieces of useable artwork. From humble beginnings of a stamp rock in the hallway of our house, to a new 800 sq.ft. shop outside of LaGrange, the old BR continues to grow. Every project is a new experience to improve and every improvement is better quality for my customer.
