Hey everyone. Looking at some designs of sheaths, I see some have a second stitch line that follows to the contours of the welt I'm assuming? How do you go about doing this.? How to make a smooth stitch groove that doesn't stand out from the stitch grove made on the edge of the sheath? Thanks in advance!

Hey everyone. So I've been wanting to expand my creativeness on my second sheath and dye the edges a darker color then the sheath itself. My question is what's the best way to do this? Would you only do this where the welt is and not the collar. I just wet formed the sheath and am curious how you would go about doing this? Thanks in advance.

Hey everyone. I am doing some dye tests to see what colour i want to use on my next sheath and I am not seeing a difference between light and dark brown. I applied 2 coats for each colour, but I don't seem to tell Light brown being all that light. Am i applying to thick? In picture dark brown is on bottom and light brown is on top.

How I am making the sheath though is im not punching the holes until the welt has been glued in so I am punching all 3 layers of leather together. But at this stage the straps are already riveted in, so I wouldn't beable to die everything then because I would not beable to fully cover the sheath at this point. Hope that makes sense. Sorry to be a nag everyone

Another question when dyeing. Is it best to dye after stitch grooving, or dye the groove again after grooving and punching your holes? I noticed in one of Ian Atkinsons videos that he uses a fine brush to dye his groove and stitch holes after the sheath has already been dyed. Why is this?

Hey everyone. I just finished my first sheath and Im moving on to my second now. I want to ask a few things of advice that I would like to correct moving forward. 1: When stitch grooving the front of the sheath, do you do the backside as well? 2: If so, when punching your stitch holes, will they line up correctly on the back side? 3: I used diamond hole punch, which i punch through the top piece of sheath, the welt and the back side of sheath. When pulling punch out the back side started to crease and almost crack from the tension. What to do to correct? 4: I made a scout style sheath that riveted the straps to the sheath itself. Because I riveted along stitch line, there is a slight gap in-between the welt and the top piece of sheath after glueing and stitching. Options to make it more flush? I apologize for all the questions, but I did not want to make 4 threads. Attached is a picture of my first finished sheath to give you idea.

Hey everyone. I finished my first ever knife sheath yesterday. It was inspired by some of the scout style sheaths that I have seen, so I thought I would have a go at a project like this. I've grown to love and respect the art of leather craft after doing so.

Hey everyone. I am in the midst of making my first sheath, and finished wet forming it last night. After following certain videos and such, when using the butt end of my burnishing tool to help with moulding and pushing in the edges of the leather around the knife handle it almost looks like there is light dark streaks as if the leather is now dirty... Will this show up when I dye the leather in the next stage, or should I do something to correct this. And my tool was not dirty if anyone asks. It's brand new. Thanks in advance.
