Searching the web... I am a computer nerd
  1. Happy Birthday

Hope you have a good one.

  2. Hi, Here is a javascript slideshow I used on a website not too long ago. http://www.codelifter.com/main/javascript/slideshow2.html Let me know if you have any problems. It is just a matter of pasting the code into your site and changing the picture names from what I remember.
  3. Hi there, Well, I will throw in my two cents for the support of using coffeecup, HTMLKit, and another called HomeSite which I belive is now part of Macromedia's Dreamweaver. I tend to use non-WYSIWYG editors(what you see is what you get). Being a programmer, I am picky about code formatting.... sometimes. I will throw out one idea for you though that is simple, fast, and great looking. If you know or have access to Adobe Photoshop CS*, you can use a built in website generator to create a website in mere seconds. They have a lot of different styles from Flash to HTML to Javascript options. It is always a quick way for me to throw my pics straight from my camera to the web for friends. If you have access and need instructions on how to use this feature, just let me know!
  4. I don't have much experience in leather, but do on the Drizzt topic. I think you are doing a great job in replicating a few pics from the books and love the idea. Now that my fiance has seen your work and I have gotten her addicted to RA Salvatore, she is trying to commission me already. I have yet to buy a tool and I already have a deadline. Keep it up, love the idea and the look!

    Woowoo!

Thanks for all the responses... lets see if I can get them all. I am actually from Canal Winchester, but work in downtown Columbus and travel the city for soccer leagues. I am currently active on the Stormrage server in the Ruin battlegroup for WoW. We have a small guild called the Frequent Flyers(you will understand why I am sure), that is just made up of real life friends. I am mainly focused on my 70 Alliance Hunter and getting him pimped out with PvP gear. I have been having a ball over these crappy weather months. As far as FPS games, I was HUGE into Quake 2 LMCTF where I also did tons of online competition. I also played a lot in HL Counterstrike 1.5(which I still run a server for my lan parties). Other than that...most of the gaming is now just LAN parties and some MMOPRGs. BF is still heavily popular even though we are moving into the BF2 LAN arena finally. Hehe. Ok, I guess I should actually being doing my real work now. Thanks for the advice and I plan to steal computer hours for this now. I did get into making some wood items last year, but think that Leather will be much more fun for my style and abilities.
  6. Hi Azmal, I think your work is excellent and really has inspired me to get moving into this hobby. I know that someday I would like to be able to create armor, but that is a long way away I think. One question I have is just the type and size of leather you typically work with. Being a leather newbie, I am more curious than anything else for now. I have read 10-12oz is a typical thickness from another post on this site, but did not see anything about the type of leather to use or treatments done. There is just so much info out there it is a bit overwhelming still. Thanks!

I have the fortune of having high speed access, but I am starting to assist my family with getting something setup. One of their options is DirectTV of course. I will let you know anything I come across regarding how they stack up. I do know another item you may want to add to a list of questions you ask the companies is if they have a monthly limit on throughput. At least one of the providers using satellite limit your monthly download so that on the first day of the month it screams, but as you download more and more it begins to almost come to a halt. Of course, they do a lot of music downloads and uploads, so they push their limit fast. Just something to keep in mind. A web site you can use as a reference is DSL Reports. Don't treat everything you read as fact since it is a lot of rants...but could provide some insight if you have not visited there. DSL Reports Good luck!

Hi everyone, I am brand spankin' new to Leatherworking. I found your board searching the net and have already gotten a lot of good information from it before the "incident" I have heard rumors of. I am looking to start completely from scratch, I have not even bought the tools yet. I have two goals in picking up this skill as a hobby. The first goal is to create a piece of SCA armor for my(and my fiance's) Ren Festival costume, and the second is to be able to assist with some small alterations of my parent's leather horse equipment. The primary objective I am looking for is to have fun though! Background... I am a computer nerd. I will assist where I can in your tech section here since I cannot help it(darn the addictions). I am a programmer for employment, but fix/build/pimp out computers for fun. I am a hard core computer gamer, with most of my gaming being spent with RL friends in World of Warcraft right now(I hear the laughter and see the eyes roll...). Other than that, I play soccer every chance I get and love to learn new things(why I am here). Thanks for the great info and be warned I am starting from ground level!! El
