Wow! Thanks for the great info! Here's what I'm working on...I'm making my brother who is a police officer a knife sheath. The finish I'm trying to get is all black and a matte finish.

I'm new to leather working and was wondering what are the usual applications of finishes after the stain? Is there some sort of sealer first then a protecting top coat? What products are common for this? Thank you!

Does anyone have a good resource to buy a chicago screw with an allen head?

Thanks for the link. I was needing to bolt on the stud part of the snap. I was going to bolt into the female part of a Chicago Screw. Basically creating a stud\chicago screw hybrid.

The threaded part of the bolt will fit as is...no drilling out the snap. But the head is too wide to fit into the snap

Here is the one I had in mind...it doesn't have to be an allen bolt. A phillips or flat head would work too, just need some ideas how to turn down the head to fit into the snap. Thanks! https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSBenfZe2Shajq9qbhXO_YMRTcKD4ZVJUDE4vzualNikc02jwWjsA

I'm trying to use an Allen bolt that fits inside the head of a snap. This will be mostly used to attach scout straps to a knife sheath. The problem is I cant find a bolt head narrow enough to fit inside the snap. I know I can turn down the head to fit, but was wanting to know some ideas to accomplish this. Any comments would be great! Thanks!
