Hi, Im just planning ahead of my project and trying to find answers. Quetions 1. what kind of lacing do i need to lace a motorcyle seat, Width,thickness,flat or round lace. 2. How do i know what length of lace to use doing double cross stitch. 3. the top of the seat and side are they glued together before stitching,or is it just th lace holding it. 4.do i use a pencil to mark out the line that shows where the lacing holes go,if i do use a pencil will this show through brown dye. 5. Im fitting the new leather to a standard Harley Davidson seat,do i glue the foam of the seat and stick new leather on to the foam,or do i just put the leather on dry a rivet it underneath. 6. When fitting the seat for the first time do i soak the whole seat, would this damage the tooling being soaked over,when do i dye seat after or before soaking the seat to fit,thats if i have to soak the seat to get the shape. Sorry about all the question but im new and need help. Syd

Im new to leathercraft but not bikes,i would have kept that seat for myself after making it.that is one awsome seat. Just wondering do the top and side edges of the leather seat need glued to each other before the sticthing is done on the leather seat,that if glue goes on them at all ?. Garry

Hi, Im new to the forum as you know and i would like to say a big hello to all the forum members. Also i have never tried any kind of leather work,but im waiting on a kit i bought from Tandy to see how i get on with the kit,and i hope to progress but i dont think i would ever get to the stage of art that you guys are putting out. Ive been looking through the photo's of the work you have been putting up on the forum,and im amazed at the work of arts that ive seen,i didnt think that sort of stuff could be put on to leather. Im hoping to progress to leather stuff for motorcycle,so i thought i would buy some leather for my new start,i was wondering what would the minimum thickness of leather be to cut out design and tool on.
