Hi, I believe i saw a snake skin pattern either carved or painted on someones project posted in the galley section. It was black and red and looked totally awesome! possibly on some armour? Finally looks like I will be able to get some time in my shop to play and would love to attempt it! any hints on how to or where to find an example? Thanks for all your help! Rob

Thanks to everyone regarding my question about stamping stones. I have been able to pick up an 18" x 18" x 3.5" sawcut slab of granite. (almost perfectly smooth! already) I have a line on polishing equipment to borrow so should be able to "shine" up one side. I just returned from a road trip from Vancouver, BC to Milwaukee, Wi through the states and unfourtunatley Sheridan Wyoming was closed when I went through, was able to peek in the windows of "King's Saddelry" and other establishments to see some of the fine work and antique saddles. WOW I could spend a week there! and will soon! R

Thanks to everyone for their replies and input! really looking forward to "setting" up a work place that can be left ready for me when I have time to make a mess of some fine leather and not have to worry about "set up and take down"! Glad I found this site and am totally impressed with the talent and skill people have and are developing! Rob (leatherpoker , may have to change name to finger sticker! oh that's going to leave a mark!)

Hello everyone, I have a basic question, I think. I only see Marble slabs sold at leather supply stores. Is this the best for stamping or does other stone ie: Granite work just as well? Also would different thickness's make a difference? I have a beginers understanding of "hit something solid and something else has to give (leather)" Do you artisans who know what you are doing have a preference? thanks for your input Rob

I am fairly new to this leather stuff, I have "tinkered" in the past and stumbling upon this site has given me some inspiration. Everyone's projects are great! but your roses are SPECTACULAR!!!! WOW! I am hoping to become proficient enough to attempt them in the future!
