  1. Thanks guys. Any yeah, there is another belt slot on the back side. Probably can't tell due to my crappy pics.
  2. Well after a few knife sheaths, I decided to make another attempt at a holster. I learned tons from the stickied thread here. It was a very valuable resource for a newb like me. I learned a few more things with this project that will help me in the future. It didn't come out perfect but it's functional for sure. Here's a couple pics. Oh, and it's a Kimber Eclipse Pro if anyone was wondering.
  3. Nice job on that. The tutorial is nice for us newbs. Gotta try some of that vinegaroon sometime.
  4. Love it! Nice holsters, and the skulls...........man I'd love to try something like that. If you freehanded those.....well, you have a lot more artistic talent than I do. If they are from patterns, I'd love to know where you got em'.
  5. Hey all! I've done a few knife sheaths now and the latest one was dyed black. I used Tandy's Eco flow alchohol based black dye. Did a total of three coats. Buffed out after drying each time before applying the next. Finished it with satin shene to give it some waterproofing. Here's my issue........the black keeps coming off no matter what I do. I'd like it to stay on the leather not my hands, clothes, knives etc. What am I doing wrong? Should I be finishing with another product? Appreciate the help.
  6. Thanks a lot guys! I'm not sure why I didn't think of doing a leather strap like that. I've seen plenty of IWB holsters set up that way but never a sheath. Nice looking work both of you.
  7. Hey all! Leather bending newb here. I've done a few basic knife sheaths and would like to try a pouch style in-waistband sheath using a metal belt clip. I'm looking for some pointers specifically with attaching the clip. I'm assuming the hole is used to rivet it to the leather. What else is used to keep the clip secure? Glue, stiching? Here's a photo of the clip I want to use. Any instructions would be helpful. Pics are good too. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for sharing the photos. You got some really nice shots! I went this year myself and had a good time. Didn't stay in town long but sure enjoyed the ride to and from. Oh, and you are right about the ladies. Aside from the girl walking down the strip in her bikini, I didn't see much that was picture worthy. Maybe next year.
  9. Wow! Thanks Don. That answered all my questions and then some. Awesome tutorial and pics. Looks like I'm going to need a few more tools. It never ends.......
  10. Well thanks to the helpful forum members I was able to complete my first holster. Didn't turn out as nice as I would like but should look a little better after I dye it. Functions perfectly though. Going to need to work on making my stitching neater looking. That's really the difficult part for me. I'm wondering what you guys are using to finish your edges. What is the name of the tool I need to clean them up some? Thanks and here's a couple of pics. I'll post the finished product as soon as it's done.
  11. Looks a hell of a lot better than my first attempt. Nice work!
  12. Thanks Randy and TwinOaks. Why didn't I think of that? I'll try that method out.
  13. Thanks for the welcome guys. I may end up trying to do one without a pattern if it turns out to be difficult to find. We'll see. Oh and Grunt, you got an eye for Busse I see. I like that.
