About Me
I have been teaching myself leatherworking for nearly a decade with the assistance of Al/Ann Stohlman's books, and tips from a number of very generous leatherworkers, both professional and non. I sell my work as a sideline. I prefer to spend my time at the bench doing custom work/one-of-a-kinds rather than a "production line" of pre-made saleable goods.
I love:
-working in exotic leathers
-learning new techniques
-discovering tools that make hand work easier
I do not care for:
- "low VOC water soluble dyes" (they are PAINTS so far as I am concerned)
- lack of pride in workmanship
- people who know nothing about running a small business who insist on giving me unsolicited advice on how to run my shop
The following items make me laugh over and over again:
- visitors to my shop who ask to speak to my boss because they'd like to speak to "him" about placing an order
- visitors who look around my shop and then ask me if I "believe in this stuff".
- people who call me on the phone to ask if I am hiring who have never entered my shop. (I pity the fool who thinks it's a good idea to work for me)
