  1. Had surgery on my foot two weeks ago. Can't put pressure on it for two more weeks. Good part is I got a knee scooter. The grandkids love the scooter! On the other hand, I was stuck in a recliner for the first week. Plenty of time to go bat poop crazy. So leather work it is! My latest toy is a Colt 1911 Wylie Clapp Edition. So new leather was needed. 6-7 oz leather, Hand stitched with split artificial sinew, moccasin brown dye and the only other thing I put on my holsters is 3 layers of Sno Proof melted in to seal everything. I am definitely function over form with my leatherwork. I am always open to constructive criticism.
  2. Very nice work. I like the cut on the back of the holster. looks easy to draw.
  3. Hard to find a nice holster for a walther p22. So I made one today.
  4. Y'all gave me some great ideas for some period correct for the 38/44 Smith. I decided to go with the Threepersons idea. I tried to do some justice to his idea. The stitching could be better but overall this is my best work yet. This is the first dying, first lining and my favorite so far. Nanny would be proud.
  5. Thank you all for the ideas. I'm going to start a new post with the result. There may be a few by the time I get done.
  6. I received my Grandmother's Smith and Wesson 38/44 Heavy Duty from my Father. I want to build a holster for it but am having a hard time finding a pic of a period correct one from the 50s. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Here is a picture of what is my favorite sidearm.
  7. Thank you both for the tips. You do bring up an excellent issue. This is the first Flock/block/flock I have worked with. Revolvers are easy to work with. You can get great detail. There is no real detail to mold to. He is a lefty so the ejection port is against the body. Past that there just is not much there. Any ideas? Here are a couple more pics. Yes I have to get better at edge dressing. I'm not real crazy about real dark edges though. I tried using beeswax this time. Yes my stitching did not end up as planned on the trigger guard either. the best laid plans of mice and men...... I will take any and all pointers. Thank you.
  8. First post here. I have made a whopping total of 5 holsters now. This one I am not entirely happy with but the guy using it likes it. Please let me know what you think.
