  1. A co-worker of mine had a knife from Vietnam that had a plastic/pvc type sheath that was coming apart and he wanted me to make a new sheath for him - here are the results. This is my first sheath and my first project starting from scratch. I have made a tandy wallet kit and that is it. I am a beginner in the art of leatherworking - I have learned a lot from this forum and I thank all of you for the discussion that takes place on this board. Let me know what you think and how I can improve.
  2. Thanks for the input everybody - I will try this finish on my next project.
  3. This is a seat strap that Steve B did for his harley (www.steveb.biz) - he has a great style and I love his work. What steps are taken in order to get this finish with the black in the background and the natural color on the high points? Thank you
  4. Thanks everybody - I really appreciate the comments and encouragement! I used three different stains from tandy for the wallet- all eco-flo leather dye. I started with a base color of range tan, then I applied some java brown from the edges in toward the center then put dark cocoa brown from the edges toward the center. Then I finished it all with super sheen. I am working on another wallet for my wife. It was a checkbook kit from Tandy but I am just using the outer piece of leather and I am making a custom interior - it will be a long biker style wallet. I just finished putting dye on last night and should have it done by next week some time. I will post pics when I am finished.
  5. Hey Paul, Awesome sheath - I was wondering if you could post a picture of the backside and a side view of the sheath Thank you
  6. Hi I'm new around here - is it better to punch holes in the leather for snaps, rivets etc. when the leather is wet (cased) or dry? Thanks
  7. I'm new to the art of leatherworking - less than a month. Here are some pics of my first wallet - it is all hand stitched (read sore fingers) - a tandy wallet I got in my leatherworker kit.
  8. I finished my first wallet and first item I've made in leather for that matter. I am new to leatherworking, I bought a leathercraft kit from Tandy's about a month ago and this is the wallet that came with the kit. Thanks for looking - Let me know what you think.
  9. I new to leatherworking - what tool did you use for the pebble effect? Thanks
