Thank you so much! It was really fun doing this. I learned a lot. Ha! Thank you. I think it wins as my favorite too
  2. From the album: Aquaman Armor

Here is a short video of the entire armor piece and the tooling. It is my first all leather chest armor (I have made many from foam), and I learned a lot on this one. For instance, it would be better to case and tool the 12 oz leather first before assembling everything since I couldn't get the thick leather wet enough for tooling without over soaking the thinner leather. I also learned not to trust my pattern to mark where the glue should go but should have waited until I cut out the thick leather and used IT to mark where to scuff and glue. It didn't match up and glue shows everywhere. I removed the glue residue but the leather is discolored. However, I am going to paint it gold so that should cover most of it (fingers crossed!). Anyway, it's done and I can't really change it. The customer is happy and that is what counts.

  4. From the album: Aquaman Armor

Hi guys, this is my first post! I have been lurking for a little while and learning from all of you great leatherists. I am brand new to leather tooling, and this Seahorse is my third attempt at tooling (be gentle LOL), and second after casing (which I learned here! My basic tooling book didn't mention it). As mentioned, I am creating some Aquaman armor and this is practice before doing the real thing. I like the way it turned out though...
